Something Soft To Keep You Warm This Winter

I found this warm and oh so soft mini scarf at the Maribyrnong Markets.

It's made by Michelle Morcos and is only $25, that's a bargain for handmade people let me tell you.

I haven't taken it off since I got it, it's so warm and snuggly, I love the colour, orange is my favourite you know. It even has little cowboy boot buttons, Yi Haaaaa.

If you would like to order one please contact Michelle on

Exciting Bag Making Workshop News

I have decided to ramp things up on the bag making workshops front.
It's my goal for people who attend to experience the best bag making workshops in Sydney; after which I will seek to conquer the world.

I would like for you to walk away raving about how you've created a high quality bag you're proud of, improved your sewing skills and confidence, met new people, sipped on cups of yummy tea and eaten scrumptious cake (the full fat kind).

So... to help me make all of the above happen I need a wee favour from you all.
I need to do a bit of re-con so I've put together a very short questionnaire with just 5 quick questions.

Could you please spare two minutes out of your busy day and complete the questionnaire?

Your precious time is very much appreciated, thank you.

Adding A Zipper To Your Bag

Many people cringe when they hear the word ZIPPER!

We are often taught that zippers are difficult to add to an outfit or bag but it's simply not true.

Here is an easy tutorial by Lisa Lam on how to make a zipper pocket and a concealed top edge zipper for bags.

Lisa's blog was one of the first I found when I started making bags about three years ago.
She has recently just finished a book called "The Bag Making Bible" which I'm sure will be fantastic and full of great tips and tricks like the zipper.

What an achievement to go from blogging about something you love for fun to publishing a book on the subject, congrats Lisa, a lot of hard work I'm sure.

Oh, and she's met Amy Butler! Jealous much?

My favourite photo of my mum, how funky does she look!

Faint Impressions is having its first ever official SALE to celebrate Mothers Day.
Where would we be without them? Well, we wouldn't be born is where we'd be, dah!

I'm lucky enough to be able to say that my mum is one of my best friends. We chat almost every second day about everything and nothing. There would be many sewing projects left unfinished had I not been able to ring the book of all sewing knowledge.

So in honour of my talented, courageous and gorgeous mum, I am offering 15% off the purchase price of all Out & About and Fortune Cookie Bags online.

SALE starts today and ends Mother Day 9th May.

Faint Impressions First Sponsor Event

Recently I was asked to sponsor the six week challenge at my local Contours gym by donating a bag for a prize.
The aim of the challenge is to go to the gym regularly and eat healthy food for six weeks in order to lose weight and feel great.

There were signs up in the gym listing the sponsors and my name was on it. I also got to leave some business cards in the gym and my designer profile, which will help the locals get to know about me.

I made this lovely clutch purse for one of the prizes which was handed out on the presentation night. I gave a little speech about how I started making bags and where they can be bought.

It was a first for me so I thought it was pretty cool. The lady who won the clutch seemed to like it and said she would have to hide it from her daughter otherwise she may not see it again.

Happy Birthday To Me (for yesterday)

It's not very often that I buy a bag because I'm the bag lady of course, but I'm a sucker for a good leather bag, especially the medium brown or tan colour. I spotted this second hand beauty in the stall across from me at the Fitzroy Market on Saturday. Seen as though I wasn't selling anything I thought I'd spend some money. I got it for $50, a bargain I say. I justified it as a birthday present to myself.

Mothers Day is not too far away, I wonder what will be happening at FI headquarters to celebrate....

Bedside Organiser Features On Ink & Spindle Blog

My first bit of cyber press, woo hoo!!

Talented Melbourne girls Teegs, Bianca and Lara from Ink & Spindle have kindly featured my bedside organiser on their blog.

On another very exciting note, this week I should find out if I've been accepted to do the Sydney Finders Keepers Market.
Having a stall at the market is something I have aspired to since I started getting serious about this bag malarkey. So cross your fingers for me as I really REALLY really want to do it.
