Wearing My Dad On My Heart

My Dad passed away in February this year and it has been a tough year without him. Especially when I needed tips for my Christmas ham! (see previous post).
When someone close to you dies it's hard to know what to do with all of their things. You don't want to throw them out, you don't want to give them away, yet they can't sit in the cupboard forever.

My mum came to visit me last month and I asked her to bring all of Dads ties with her; I didn't explain why.
As a Christmas present I had his ties made into beautiful broaches by Fran at The Seamstress. Now mum can wear a little piece of Dad on her heart whenever she likes.
I'm keeping the purple one for myself, or maybe the navy one, I can't decide.
If you would like some tie broaches made, please contact Fran on

I'm also going to make softies out of his woollen jumpers and sock monsters out of his socks.

My Coming of Age

Ok, so I think if I did the Christmas ham this year then that means I'm a fully fledged adult.
I know they say you're an adult when you turn 18 but I think the rules should be changed to when you do your first Christmas turkey, chicken or ham.

Check this baby out! Ham for breakfast lunch and tea, YUM YUM pigs bum, or leg rather.

Rocking The Entertainment Centre With Keith Urban

I'm definitely a country girl and last Wednesday I proved that by going to see Keith Urban.
Fantastic concert, I sang along to all the words, oh, and did I mention THAT I TOUCHED HIM! Yes people, I touched Keith Urban, the man who goes home to Nicole freakin Kidman!
Now, I've never been one to drool over Keith but I must say it was a highlight and I would do it again if i could.
A very cool touch during the concert was the you tube clips of people singing his songs on the big screens.

So my fame touches this year are racked up to good old John Farnham and Keith Urban.

Christmas Shopping Done

The last Christmas package posted today, yiihaaa grandma! Why is it that at a time of year when we're supposed to be winding down, everyone seems to be wound up.

This year I thought I would be a true domestic Goddess and do some baking as mini gifts for my colleagues. I attempted to make some of Donna Hays macaroons for the first time in my life.

My first go was a serious flop but after consultation with my chef friend, having my eggs at room temperature and making sure there wasn't a trace of yoke in them, I got somewhere, and they were delicious if i do say so myself.

Faint Impressions Goes Retail

Big news people, my bags are in a shop! Yes that's a real shop with real people.
They're at Monsterthreads in Newtown on King Street. A very funky T'shirt shop that also stocks other cool products, like, my BAGS!

My Most Successful Market So Far

I've been a little quiet over the last few weeks because I've been madly getting ready for the Eveleigh Artisan market today. I am happy to report that my efforts were well worth it. Eleven Faint Impressions now have a lovely new home, the best market so far and I am over the moon.
All of my new fortune cookie range sold today, but not to worry if you missed out as I will be making some more.

The next market is not until February 7th, so it's now time for a well earned sewing break, a few days perhaps, I will have some time to make myself some funky summer skirts.

I've also set the date for the next bag workshop, which will be January 24th, so shoot me an email if you would like to book.

I've designed a couple of clutch purses, which I will load onto my online shop today. A lovely gift for a friend or for your kris kringle.

Have a super week, I am off to have some champagne to celebrate the day.
